G N'r Lies Reviews

Surprisingly good follow up to Appetite
Appetite For Destruction was a classic hard rock adrenalin rush that'll never be surpassed. How the hell do u follow up that ? Go the other way...

The 4 live tracks i'm not going to comment on really. They're all pretty good and the cover of Mama Kin rules, but they seem to be only here for nostalgia purposes.

Whats interesting tho is the accoustic tracks. Now I'm not really into accoustic stuff, thats why I didn't buy this album for ages, but upon listening, some of their best stuff is at the end of this album. I don't think any other band could pull of using accoustics and make it sound heavy, or as dark as the second half of this CD is.

Patience is a great ballad. It's so calm, which is normally only a bad thing but it's powerful lyrically. A lot of people don't like Used To Love Her. Why ? It's hilarious! Mysogynistic - yes, but it's only a joke damn it. You're Crazy is much slower than the version on Appetite, yet it's still very listenable even accoustic. One In A Million is just a killer track tho. A masterpiece which never got the recognition it deserved ont eh grounds that is was racist and homophobic. Some people are so dumb...

The almbum is worth buyin just for the accoustic's and the whole thing is very thought out and very clever. I don't think there's much on here you could describe as filler so it's worth lookin into. The follow up two albums are better tho...

Good mini album of sorts
Guns and Roses' second release G 'N' R Lies was released in November of 1988. Lies was released as a sort of cash-in on the success of Appetite for Destruction. The album comprised of two EPs in one album. First, the long deleted Live Like a Suicide is comprised of covers namely Aerosmith's Mama Kin and the superb Bad Boys. Ironically, the latter was what described the band to the press. The second of the two EPs on this album was G'N'R semi-unplugged. First is the ballad Patience which was a huge hit and was one of the first tracks to have Axl sing in a lower octave for a change rather than hearing him screech for a change and is a great ballad. Used to Love Her is a funny ode to Axl's dog and not a girlfriend/wife. You're Crazy is arguably better in its slow, unplugged style with Axl singing rather than screaming half the time. The controversial One in a Million closes the album with its lyrics which caused certain groups to call G'n'R racist, anti-gays, etc. As always, the album hit the US Top 5 and sold millions. Unfortunately, this was the last gasp with original drummer Steven Adler as he was dismissed from the band in 1990.

The Last truly original Great Rock Band
Guns N Roses (the TRULY last great band in america)
releases another good album called GNR Lies
and it's still the best albums to listen to
in my life, it's a follow up to 1987's hit
appetite for destruction, great songs, best song writing
and slash's guitar playing is still as great as today
they were truly the last great rock n roll band
before the most overrated band in history (nirvana)
came and sent the whole rock world down the toliet.
Thank God for the darkness for rescuing it

Guns N Roses will always be the best band ever.

G N' R Fan
G N' R lies is a great CD. It Has 4 live Songs and 4 acoustic studio songs. Out of the acoustics the best songs are Your Crazy and One in a Million. Then out of the live stuff my favs are Move to the City and Mamma Kin. This is a great G N' R CD but I'd Reccomend buying Appetite for destruction first. This is an essential CD to buy if your into classic Glam rock.

good cd but not the best GN'R can give you
this cd is the 4th best GN'R cd...out of five...the only one that is worse then this is the spaggatie incident. this cd has 2 great songs: patience and mama kin(originally recorded by Aerosmith) but even though this cd defitally falls short of appetite it is still good.
