GET THIS CD FOR YOUR CHRISTIAN MUSIC NEEDS!

Wow, just about every single one of my friends owns this CD now, that's how much of a hit it is around here! =) I like the 'boyband' sound, but it gets annoying to hear NSYNC and BSB and all the others singing sappy love songs all the time. Plus One is a great change, as their songs are 'love songs' to God.

"Written On My Heart"- I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song!! This song if the only one I had to hear that made me want to buy this album! It's catchy, and you'll find yourself singing this one around the house! "God Is In This Place"- one of the few songs on this album I don't like. It's got a nice message, but it's really monotonous and I just don't like the melody. "The Promise"- This is a good song, and a great promise. It makes me appreciate our God so much more after listening to this song and being reminded of His neverending promise to us. "My Life"- Ok, a lot of people don't like this song cause it 'sounds secular', but I don't really get that. Just because it has a dance beat that automatically makes it bad?? Whatever. The message to this song if great and there is nothing secular about it! "Soul Tattoo"- another one of my very favorites! At first, Soul Tattoo was like 'huh, what?' and I wondered what the song would be like, but the message of it is great. =) God is my soul tattoo! "I Will Rescue You"- This song sounds too much like the rest of them, for me. It's nice, but it doesn't stand out, at least in my opinion. "When the Spirit Gets Weak"- the beginning of this song, I don't really get, (trying to reinvent the wheel? what does that mean?), but I still like it a lot and I always find myself singing it around the house. "Last Flight Out"- Very, very pretty. I love this song, even though it is a guy/girl one. At least it sounds like a guy/girl one, and it looks like one too from the music video. But I really like it- the tune is great. "Run To You"- a great song!! Another favorite! The mechanical voice part is soooo cool! The melody is super catchy and the words are great too. I think the guys sound really good in this song. "Be"- the other song I don't like on this album. There is nothing about it that stands out. I don't know, I just don't like it. I think I've listened to it maybe twice! "Here In My Heart"- a good song, even though it is definitely guy/girl. Still, it is pretty and it's not an icky sweet love song. It reminds me of something from the Westlife album for some reason! "My Friend"- this is a nice song. The bells in the beginning and end sound weird to me, but it still is a nice message and I like the tune.

Without a doubt, you should buy this album. it's GREAT that we have a christian boyband, and I think we should support them every way we can!! =) Job well done, Nathan, Jason, Nate, Jeremy and Gabe!

Plus One more star!
When I first heard that there was going to be not one, but two Christian boy-bands (the other being True-Vibe), I have to confess that I was not crazy about the idea. My fear was that they would be a "boy band" first and a Christian group second.

Fortunately they turned out to be the reverse of my fears.

"The Promise" was one of the best albums of 2000, vaulting Plus One to the tops of not only the Christian charts, but the secular charts as well. In addition to a concert tour that was a huge hit, Plus One also popped up in a few TV shows during 2000 and 2001.

Nearly three years later, many of the songs on this album still receive a lot of radio play on both Christian and secular stations.

Although the group was put together by an outsider (i.e., someone not in the group itself) and all the songs were written by other people, the message in this album is clear: God is not just out there, but He is a big part of your life. This message is made clear by the songs "Written On My Heart," "Soul Tattoo," and "Here In My Heart."

Probably the most popular of the songs on this album, at least in the Christian circles, is "God Is In This Place," a reminder that God is here, there, and everywhere.

The group has recently dropped from five members to three members with the departure of Jeremy Mhire and Jason Perry. The remaining three have decided, at least for now, to stay a trio. We'll have to wait and see what the future holds for them. In the meantime, get acquainted with this group through this album.

Sure, there are more inventive or intense contemporary Christian acts out there. But as acts aspiring to boy-band fame in the CCM market go, Plus One are the best. Their harmonies are really solid and intricately woven together, their convictions undoubtedly heartfelt, their arrangements uplifting. The message is as pure as the golden melodies these boys let loose. --James Conde
