The Rock Typhoon
A really bright new star in the sky of the nu-metal universe. The incredible combination of a melody and an aggressiveness, of a wall-crushing power, and a fragile beauty makes Ill Nino really something to listen to, and to enjoy.God Save Us, and What Comes Around are really great hits that are known widely. The most melodic, still heavy enough, tracks are perhaps Unreal, No Murder, and Predisposed. If You Still Hate Me, Nothing's Clear, Liar, Rumba, I Am Loco, Rip Out Your Eyes, and /Revolucion are full of energy and heaviness, and readily please anyone who're used to some heavier music. With You is a nice latin guitars acoustic, with a soft vocals, and a nice melody; makes the band shine in the different and original light.
The unavoidably essential part of any real rock music fan's collection, a must-have for any nu-metal lover.
Insane
This is a very good cd, and i suggest you buy it right now if you are a fan of linkin park, sepultura, soulfly, godsmack, puya, or disturbed. If that's not enough to convince you keep reading. I instantly fell in love with this cd after buying it. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because it doesn't really stand up to repeated listenings, it gets worse and worse the more times you hear ir, instead of growing on you it kinda pushes you away. It used to be my favorite cd but now its just great. Ill nino will always hold a special place in my heart.
My favorite songs are No Murder, Nothing's Clear, Rumba, and Rip Out Your Eyes. What Comes Around is also really good. This is more of a traditional metal disc than your new metal fare but it does have nu-metal roots shining through in some places mostly on "Predisposed" and "Unreal". This CD does an amazing job in blending culture and metal. The drumming is simply incredible. They use bongos, timbales, and even triangles in some songs and they have one of the best drummers today, aside from Tool's Danny Carey and SOAD's John Dolmayan. Singing is great. Guitarwork is awesome, basslines are average, as many are. If you are looking for good basswork check out Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Primus, Phish, Hoobastank or Oysterhead. This CD is definetely worth buying. I don't generally like it when metal bands try to be cool by putting a ballad as the discs closer, but "With You" definetely works here. BUY IT NOOOOW ROAR.
Words can't describe it
From the moment I heard this album, I knwe these guys would be a huge part of the rest of my life. There is no band in the Nu-Metal world that even comes close to these guys. With their fusion of spanish melodies incorporated into their bone crushing punch in their bass and guitars.
This is the band that will give you chills all throughout your body after the 200th listen through and many more after that. Everywhere I went, this went with me. Whether I was at work, school, in the car. I listened to this album for 1 1/2 years straight, until I squeezed every last bit out of it. Until I had explored every chord, lyric, and drumbeat. I still listen to it alot now, and it is absolutely one of the 5 greatest albums ever made in existence, but its not stuck to my body anymore.
For 1 1/2 years, every free moment or downtime I had was spent thinking about every aspect of this album. The last track "With You" also shows how talented they are because it is complete brazilian easy listening, as compared to the headtrip these guys will take you through on the rest of the album.
This truly is the next Self-Titled KoRn album. If you have even a little bit of rock in you, you owe it to yourself to get this.
