Sick of Being Rich Reviews

5 Stars yes but not w/out 1 gripe or 2
I've been a big J Zone fan and after readin interviews of him not wantin to do another album after "Pimps don't pay taxes" I was dissapointed, but pleased when earlier this year he'd be coming out w/another album. Now that I've finally got the chance to listen to the whole thing a dozen times here's my lil analysis.

Production wise J Zone has always been great on, but a few of the joints on here really were upsetting....they were good, but not what you'd expect (Steady Hoggin and Too Many Babies). I totally skip Too Many Babies cause as funny as it was the first time listenin it really is annoyin more then entertainin now. 1 skit should probably have been cut from the album all together (2 bit club) and I think he should of put "S.L.A.P." on here as well or atleast a joint w/Huggy Bear, I totally missed him on this album. All together it's a great album I particularly love "5 star hooptie" "Prima Donna" (cause Copywrite is too ill) and "Ho Kung Fu"...those are my choice cuts, the others are great cept the ones I named earlier. With all my lil gripes I totally recommend this to anyone who loves humor and great beats, but buy 'Pimps' and his other EPs too, cause honestly that's still his best work.

THE summer banger
J-Zone's followup to his insanely dope Pimps Don't Pay Taxes virtually solidifies his status as the king of comedy in the hip hop world. The patented loser-centric humor Zone is known for hits harder the second time around. Seriously bumpin tracks like 5 Star Hooptie, Chump Change, and Bling Around the Collar will not only have you rolling on the floor laughing out loud but might strike accord to some (ever been tempted to buy that fake bling for your honey?). As usual, Zone gets some help from a few friends. Old school legends, Masta Ace and King Tee, stop by and sound amazingly fresh over Zone production. Long-time collabo-partner Al Shid discusses his women problems once again on 38th and 8th, while feuding emcees, Copywrite and Celph-Titled, are interestingly included to contribute on different tracks. People expecting a big step forward in Zone's production may encounter some disappointment. None of the beats are weak but some tracks do suffer from slightly overdone sampling (see Steady Hoggin', Prima Donna). The lack of standout tracks like Bum B**** Ballad and Jailbait Jennifer on PDPT may leave Zone fans feeling empty. Still, $ick of Being Rich is a very consistent outing for Zone. Surely nothing will sound nicer in my hooptie... er... ride in the last days of summer. - carterfactor
