Nothingface blow away the metal scene with Skeletons
I'm a huge Nothingface fan. I never tire of listening to Everyday Atrocity, Violence or Pacifier, but I must say that Skeletons shows incredible range. Some call this album a softer release and it may be, but Matt's vox are so well developed that you won't care. I think to truly appreciate this album, you have to listen to all of the albums in the order of their release date. You'll see the changes that have gone on, but I have yet to hear one bad song by this band. My favorites are Beneath, Murder is Masterbation, Scission and Patricide. Definately pick this up, it's what real metal should sound like, no gimmicks, just soul and emotion.
Not for posers or rap metal fans
This album directly attacks everything from americas goverment to the catholic church in rome. Matt simply puts out some of the best lyrics in music today. I own all 4 albums and i woudl say there are difference between each of them. This album covers a broad spectrum. Matt has an amazing voice not to mention the incredible talent of the rest of the band. Some songs are flat out kick you in the face heavy as can be. Others songs take a more melodic approach. If your looking for your first nothingface album i suggest this one because it covers a wide range of what there capable of. If your looking for pure heavy go with pacifier, meledoic go with an audio quide to everyday atrocity, melodic heavy go with violence. Each album these guys produce is very powerfull music and should not be purchased by people looking for easy metal listening or posers looking to just anger people at traffic lights.
The best nu metal album ever!
This is a five star album all the way. Destined to become a metal classic! All the tracks are good except "I wish I was a communist". Matt Holt is very versatile and gives Corey Taylor a run for his money. Very diverse album. Melodic and Brutal. Best tracks: Scission, I Am Him, Murder is Masturbation.
Um, more like 99999999999999999999999999 stars!
Before I begin my review, i'd love to say that Nothingface will come back together as Kingdom Of Snakes. On to Skeletons. This is my favorite album of all time! I got it as a birthday gift, and to say the least it's awesome! My favorite songs are "Here Come The Butchers","I Wish I Was A Communist","Muder Is M*****bation", and "Ether". "Ether" was the first song I heard from this album(off of the Freddy VS. Jason soundtrack) and I looked forward to getting the album. Matt Holt is on eof the best vocalists ever! One moment he's roaring like a grindcore vocalist and the next minute he can sing very audibly. If you had to buy one album by Nothingface, buy this now!
Peace out all!
The best release of 2003
I've listened to this cd 'many' times, and not once has it let me down. It is a very interesting headbanging cd that i am glad to have in my collection, as i urge many of you fans of korn, soilwork, in flames, ill nino, soulfly, even slipknot, to do the same.
The cd itself is a very intricate collection of melodic rock-metal, and growly vocal metal. However, Nothingface manages the balance perfectly so you never get never bored. I have to say, i have been a Nothinface fan for quite some time now, and this cd is not a dissapointment. It may have taken a slightly "newer" metal sound to it, but this does not mean in any way it is not a good sound.
Best songs- Murder is masterbation, all cut up, i wish i was a communist
Beneath- this song is one of my personal favorites, even though it does slow the pace down with more melody than heavyness. all the same, the chorus is hard to get out of your head once you've listened to it many times.
All in all, i would still agree that An Audio Guide to Everday Atrocity is most likely their best album, especially if you are a metalhead more appreciative of the music than the lyrics or the vocals. But, with so many catchy songs, Skeletons is definately a worthy release. Please go buy it!
Skeletons is the first standout metal record of the new century and will serve as the blueprint for the next wave of hard music. Nothingface is simply one of the best bands in metal today. 13 tracks. TVT Records. 2003.
